Meet Shamia Chowdhury, MHC Intern
Clinical Intern | Creative, Developmentally Responsive Counselor
Hi, I’m Shamia. I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and provide counseling under the supervision of a licensed mental-health professional.
I’m passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate life’s challenges, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills. Who May Be a Good Fit
Shamia may be a good fit for children, adolescents, and young adults who need a supportive space to manage anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, or changes in their lives.
She also supports young people experiencing school-related pressure, social difficulties, peer or family concerns, and challenges expressing their emotions. Creative and play-based techniques can provide additional ways to communicate when words feel difficult to find.
Shamia works collaboratively with clients who want to build confidence, strengthen coping skills, understand themselves more fully, and develop greater resilience. She meets clients where they are without expecting them to have everything figured out before beginning therapy.
What Makes Shamia’s Approach Different
Shamia incorporates creativity into counseling to help make therapy engaging, meaningful, and accessible. She uses creative arts interventions and play-based techniques to support expression, exploration, and personal growth while honoring each client’s preferred way of communicating.
Her approach is warm, compassionate, and developmentally responsive. She takes time to build genuine connections and helps clients explore their thoughts and emotions without judgment or pressure.
As a graduate counseling intern, Shamia brings current clinical training, curiosity, and close supervision into her work. She collaborates with her supervisor to support thoughtful, ethical, and individualized care.
