Hello, I’m Nicholas. I love painting and sketching with different materials and media. I hope to create art around mental health to normalize neurodivergence and eliminate stigma. I’m a big fan of Fleetwood Mac and diverse music from the ’70s. I enjoy playing board games and video games with my mates, in my off time. I’ve recently had a blast playing the board game Code Names. I think some of the greatest ways to heal and build strength is by embracing our creativity and working with others.
I have had my own struggles with my mental health and I look for ways to give back to those who have aided me in the past. That has drawn me to the field of Social Work where I hope to assist individuals living with Depression, Anxiety, and other mental health diagnoses. I love working with individuals who are trying to better themselves in any way they can. Sometimes family, school, or society can interfere with how we develop our goals, go about our day-to-day, and how we see ourselves. I’m excited to work with people to empower themselves under oppressive systems and take back control of their lives.
I’ve attended Stony Brook University for my BS in Psychology and recently graduated from Hunter College with my LMSW. I’ve interned at the Advocacy Resource Center at Queensborough Community College. I’ve worked as a Direct Support Professional in a mental health residential facility with the agency Options for Community Living. I’ve also begun working as a 988 Suicide Helpline Crisis Counselor with the Long Island Crisis Center.
