Hello there! My name is Kristy (pronouns: she/her). Spending time at home with my family and taking walks in our neighborhood are a couple of my most favorite things to do. I also love to garden! I always feel so proud watching my plants grow and flourish. For me, there is nothing better than being snuggled up on the couch during a snowstorm with my two kids and my cat.
I enjoy working with people that are going through transitions in their lives, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, as well as caretakers. There have been plenty of times in my life when I felt overwhelmed or disconnected from my loved ones and needed a push in the right direction. I have suffered many losses in my life. Finding the right therapist and gaining support from people who also have gone through loss and shared similar overwhelming and disconnected feelings, has helped me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. I also help to care for a family member with dementia and can relate to how stressful it can be at times to be there for someone you love that cannot be there for themselves while trying to manage your own life. As a caregiver, I value the fact that we need care and support too!
I got my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University, School of Social Welfare in 2013. My passion is helping people of all walks of life to manage their lives and to make necessary positive changes to better themselves on their terms in a safe and supportive space.
