Hi! My name is Jennifer, or you can call me Jenn. I love spending my free time with family, friends, and my two little pups. I enjoy watching different crime series and playing video games like Pokémon Go, Mario Kart and Candy Crush. I definitely prefer staying in over going out, but I also love to travel and experience new places. One day I hope to visit the small country of Malta to see where some of my ancestors came from. I also especially love the winter months where you can find me somewhere in the mountains skiing with my husband.
What I enjoy most about being a therapist is being the support someone needs as they face challenging life experiences. This could include overcoming past traumas, coping with mental health diagnoses, addressing relationship issues, or managing day-to-day stress. I decided to pursue a career in Social Work after personally struggling with the stigma surrounding mental wellbeing. Do you feel as though you can’t share certain things with your friends/family due to a fear of being “judged” or “labeled”? You are not alone. I have learned to appreciate that what each individual needs is a nonjudgmental, safe space to open up about the issues they are facing. Together, we will work to identify coping skills in order to prepare yourself for a healthy, happy future.
I received both my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University. I have worked with individuals in a clinic treatment program, as well as with women and families facing homelessness. I have experience with a wide range of mental health diagnoses and trauma backgrounds. I’m excited to continue to provide support, acceptance, and empathy to individuals hoping to make positive change in their lives.
