Jaclyn Martinez

Clinician, Suffolk Family Therapy

Jaclyn Martinez is currently accepting new patients!

Hey! My name is Jackie. One of my favorite pastimes is drinking caramel iced lattes, whether that be on my own to decompress or sitting with long time friends and catching up on our lives together. I also love spending time with my kids at local parks and/or indoor playgrounds while getting my own work out from chasing the kiddos all day.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at CUNY Hunter College, with a specialization in Clinical Practice and Health & Mental Health in 2015 and soon after earned my New York LMSW in 2016. Afterwards, I moved to North Carolina, where I resided for several years and earned my North Carolina LCSW in 2018. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and am always excited to utilize this fantastic modality of care to further assist my clients in feeling more connected and less overwhelmed by daily stressors and/or trauma triggers that may disrupt their sense of well being.

I have worked with many different populations with various personal and/or mental health concerns over the years ranging from those who have difficulty functioning in their daily lives due to severe and persistent mental illness to those who struggle to connect to themselves, others, and their environment in spite of “going through the motions” of daily living. Over time, I’ve found myself to be most passionate about working with adults going through difficult life transitions that might lead to feeling emotionally disconnected, angry, and burdensome. There have been more times than I care to recall when I have been in a dark place, feeling lost with nowhere to turn and that nobody cares, wants to deal with me, or help me with my problems. I pushed loved ones away and became very bitter and angry for a long time. In my own healing journey I have learned how to cope with these feelings and access my support systems in spite of feeling like I didn’t matter, breaking free from the dark place so that I could thrive in my life. Whether you are dealing with the death of a loved one, going through separation/divorce, or another significant change in your life has taken place, we can play the hand you were dealt to access your inner strengths and help your resilience shine through the hardships so you can get back to being your best self.
